CPA Ita M. Rahilly Elected President of NYSSCPA

Ita M. Rahilly, CPA, partner-in-charge of RBT CPAs, LLP’s Tax Department, began her one-year term as president of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) on June 1, making her the 100th president of the Society, which was founded in 1897.

Rahilly has been a member of the Society for more than three decades, and as president, she aims to bridge the gap between the Society, its members (current and prospective), and the general public, via public service and financial literacy efforts.

As an advocate for the industry’s future leaders, Rahilly will focus on supporting and mentoring the next generation of CPAs by providing education and leadership opportunities to NextGen members, which are young accounting professionals and those pursuing their CPA license.

One of the Society’s membership programs that Rahilly will be involved in is Mentor Match, which links experienced professionals (mentors) with less experienced professionals (mentees), to help build professional relationships, provide support and offer knowledge to those entering the industry.

Rahilly will spearhead the planning of and will host the NYSSCPA’s 2020 Women’s Leadership Forum, with a focus on fostering inclusivity within the profession. She will also implement a public service initiative to provide accounting and financial literacy education to the general public.

In order to keep up with member benefit trends due to the generational shift in the industry, Rahilly also plans to hold an Innovation Challenge to key member groups of the NYSSCPA in order to gauge the best types of member benefits for ones career.

Prior to her presidency, Rahilly served on the Society’s Board as president-elect, vice president and director as chapter representative. She also served as a member of the New York, Multistate and Local Taxation, Tax Division Oversight and Awards committees. She also served as president, secretary and treasurer of the Mid Hudson Chapter.

Rahilly is currently a member of the Society’s Trust and Estate Administration Committee, serves on the Moynihan Scholarship Fund Board, is president of the Society’s Executive Committee, is an AICPA council member and is an active member of her community.

Rahilly joined the Society in 1988 and is a member of the Mid Hudson Chapter. She received her B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame and resides in Dutchess County with her husband, Louis.
